History Of Greenwich Preparatory School
Greenwich Preparatory / JHS was FOUNDED in september 1986 by Mrs. Zubaida Haruna. She had been then headmistress of Shield's Experimental school at community 2. Tema Ghana. After some years Mrs. Haruna quit teaching in order to stay home but after persistence from some parents who were aware of her tireless work. She decided to start a school. One of the parents gave out an apartment of community 5, which is currently her former residence, to use as a school. The school began with a population of 11 pupils and two teachers where the cooking of food; sweing of school uniforms on all administrative work was taken care of Mrs. Haruna.
After some years of successful work, she was encouraged to begin a primary school in addition to the Creche which she obliged to, starting with here last born son and two of her son's friends. As years went by and iwth the population of the school increasing, Mrs Haruna, with the able support of her late husband Alhaji. haruna yakabu applied for land from tema Development Corporation (T.D.C). Her successful application led to the building and current location of the school.

The question has been asked "Why the name Greenwich" The existence of the famous Greenwich Meridian in Tema where the school has alway been located was the main reason for the choice of name. The motto of Greenwich Preparatory/JHS school, Knowledge is Power , was derived from a similar motto by the founder's former school.

- 1. The first batch of students presented by the school for the B.E.C.E gained a 100% success rate.
- 2. The school won first place in the Adom FM Rap Competition for Basic Schools in Tema.
